10 individuals and 2 companies sanctioned by EU council over Myanmar Coup

The European Union Council has imposed a second wave of sanctions on 10 individuals and 2 companies over the Myanmar coup. Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Company Limited and Myanmar Economic Corporation Limited are the two companies sanctioned, these two companies are controlled by the armed force of Myanmar (Tatmadaw). The Tatmadaw had overthrown the democratic government and took over the power.

The individuals sanctioned are all responsible for that chaos in Myanmar, undermining the democratic power, and rule of law and further did grave violations of human rights.

The council has put sanctions that will affect the economic interest of the armed force of Myanmar. They put restrictions on their travel, freezing assets and barring both companies and individuals from supporting financially those sanctioned.

The council of the European Union is among those councils and individuals who criticize and condemned the actions of the Tatmadaw which killed hundreds of people.
