Petition in the Supreme Court seeking Independent Inquiry into the Nashik Oxygen gas Leak case.

On Wednesday, a leak in the main medical oxygen tank dislocated the supply of gas in Nashik’s Dr Zakir Hussain hospital which took the lives of 24 patients who were on life support.

A PIL has been filed by a Mumbai-based NGO, Save Them India Foundation. The petition has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking an independent judicial enquiry into the tragic incident.

It was alleged that the incident occurs due to the negligence of the hospital authorities. To ascertain the cause the petition pleads for an independent inquiry.

The petitioner also seeks registration of an FIR under Section 304A ( Causing death by negligence) and 304( Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) in the matter. It also sought to set up a 3-member commission for enquiring the incident under the chairmanship of a Retired SC judge and two retired HC judges.

It also pleaded to establish a High-powered committee in all the states, to look after the medical facilities of COVID 19 patients.
