Trump ban reversed by the Energy Department of US on Chinese electrical equipment

Last year, a prohibition order was authorized by Donald Trump, Executive Order 13920, which declared a state of emergency over the power grid of the state. International State-sponsored hackers are usually behind the cyberattacks commonly directed at power grids.

The US Department of Energy reversed a ban on the import of certain electrical equipment from China. China is one of the major manufacturers of electrical grid equipment in the world.

The ban was reversed because of the need to increase electrical grid equipment and regulators of energy emphasis on the need to modernize equipment.

Although after the reversal of the ban, companies can now purchase electronic grids from China but it is advised to the companies to take proper caution while buying this equipment.

Further, the department also seeks input from interested individuals and industry actors in a Request of Information issued simultaneously with the announcement.
